Artist's Description
California Street 3, 2008. I was reluctant to add this to the collection of Victorian homes I've taken in San Francisco over the years for the simple reason that the weather on this particular trip was abysmal. A series of wildfires in Northern California that summer had created smoke that had drifted down the entire Central Valley and into the city and turned the sky a sooty gray for the entire time I was there. It wasn't until I took a second look at the picture that I decided that even with the white of the sky, there was enough sun getting through to bring the out the details on this amazing house in the Western Addition.

I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my life on the West Coast. In 2002 I became the third generation of my family to live in Washington after moving from San Francisco. I've been taking pictures since my childhood starting with a pin hole camera I made from a National Geographic World. Growing up, my family and I took yearly vacations, and like a lot of kids, I usually wound up posing for photos. It was my father's enthusiasm and love for photography though that inspired me as a child and continues to inspire me today. For a number of years, photography was merely a hobby until a trip I took with friends to New Orleans in 2004.
