Artist's Description

View from the window at sunset, 2007. To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we took a cruise with friends from Vancouver BC to San Francisco where we stayed at the Mark Hopkins Hotel at the summit of Nob Hill. This was the view from the window of our room looking out over Grace Cathedral and the Flood Mansion just after we had checked in. I've always thought the city looked her best in the glow of the end of the day and this was no acceptation. In fact, I think this is one of the most beautiful shots of the city I've ever taken.

I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my life on the West Coast. In 2002 I became the third generation of my family to live in Washington after moving from San Francisco. I've been taking pictures since my childhood starting with a pin hole camera I made from a National Geographic World. Growing up, my family and I took yearly vacations, and like a lot of kids, I usually wound up posing for photos. It was my father's enthusiasm and love for photography though that inspired me as a child and continues to inspire me today. For a number of years, photography was merely a hobby until a trip I took with friends to New Orleans in 2004.
