Three Towers, 2009. In the Spring of 2009, I returned home to Washington after a two month stay in California. For a number of years I had been planning to photograph Old City Cemetery in Sacramento, but owing to weather and time constraints, I had never been able to allot time to stay there. On my return this time however I stayed in Sacramento as part of my return and despite the late May heat, I managed to do my shoot in the cemetery, but also take pictures of various locations around the capitol including this shot of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament which is the principal church of the city and I couldn't have asked for better weather to capture the facade against the deep blue of the central valley sky.

I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my life on the West Coast. In 2002 I became the third generation of my family to live in Washington after moving from San Francisco. I've been taking pictures since my childhood starting with a pin hole camera I made from a National Geographic World. Growing up, my family and I took yearly vacations, and like a lot of kids, I usually wound up posing for photos. It was my father's enthusiasm and love for photography though that inspired me as a child and continues to inspire me today.
