Thy will be done, 2007. In the 19th century, graves weren't just made of marble or wood that had to be carved. They could also be found made out of zinc, or what was called white bronze and in many cases ordered by catalog from manufacturers across the country. You simply chose a design you liked, wrote a letter to the company along with the pertinent details of the person and they would ship the finished product out to the cemetery for installation. These are sometimes my favorite to photograph because as they're made of metal, the details never weather off over time.

I was born and raised in Southern California and spent my life on the West Coast. In 2002 I became the third generation of my family to live in Washington after moving from San Francisco. I've been taking pictures since my childhood starting with a pin hole camera I made from a National Geographic World. Growing up, my family and I took yearly vacations, and like a lot of kids, I usually wound up posing for photos. It was my father's enthusiasm and love for photography though that inspired me as a child and continues to inspire me today.
